Ram Gopal Varma is remorseless even after Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh loses his job, finds Shubha Shetty-Saha. What do you have to say now that the Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has been asked to resign — many feel it is because he took you and his Riteish to the Taj.What can I say? It is a political decision. Why blame me?Why did you go there?I was with Riteish and just went along with him. It is absolutely not true that I had intentions of making a film on this situation. My next film is Run, which has nothing to do with terrorism. When I went there, the CM was already there. I was not formally introduced to him and he perhaps didn’t even know that I was there. That’s a bit hard to believe, considering that you were with his son…Why is it hard to believe? Do you know there were about 50 to 70 people along with us? I don’t think he had even seen me. The fact that so many people were allowed to enter those particular areas itself shows that they were not some serious security concern. In reality I saw much less than what I had already seen on TV. What possibly could I get there that I hadn’t already seen on TV? Just broken glasses and table tops, which I have seen a thousand times.Don’t you think those ‘other people’ could be officers related to the investigation? They could be. I don’t know. How am I to know they were officials? They were all looking around. The very fact that Vilasrao’s footage was shot by his own people and sent to TV channels, means he had nothing to hide. If the officers had an issue with me being at the crime area, they would have stopped us. If they had done that, why would Mr Vilasrao overstep it and ask me to come? The whole focus was why was Ram Gopal Varma there. I want to know why the other 50 people were there.Would you say it was a security lapse that they allowed so many people to enter?I wouldn’t know. My point is anybody in my place if given a chance to view a place where a historical thing has happened — wouldn’t they want to see it? I challenge any one to come out and say they would want to miss such an opportunity. If I was doing it for personal gain or to exploit it for some personal reasons, then I can understand. The issue here is one — wrong timing and two — using your proximity to the CM’s son to enter a forbidden area…Fine, I agree to that. I don’t know if the protocol permits me to go there. It was pure human curiosity and what damage has it caused to anybody? Finally, are you regretting the whole thing? Or are you angry? No, I am not regretting it one bit. I find the whole reaction ridiculous.
